Forged Stainless Steel Spoons

For a materials science class in the spring of 2012, I worked on a team of three investigating stainless steel forging.  Over the course of about a month, we studied samples of existing spoons and forged our own spoons to compare processes and results.  Specifically, we wanted to find out how the manufacturing process (cold/hot rolling or cold/hot forging) affected the grain structure and physical properties of the final product.  We used both hot and cold forging techniques to create our spoons.
